Managing Director Mirjam van Dijk signing the award!

The new logo presented by the Mayor of Zaanstad Ms. Faber

On 6th April 2011, during a special reception at the factory site in Koog aan de Zaan with national and international guests, Duyvis Wiener B.V. received the designation “Royal”.
The designation ‘Royal’ is only very rarely conferred by the Queen on companies that are leaders in their field. Applications, with the advice of the Mayor, are assessed by the Queen’s Commissioner, subjected to further investigation, and subsequently submitted with recommendations to Her Majesty the Queen for her decision. An award entitles the recipient to display the insignia of the royal crown in combination with the company’s logo, for example on stationery or on the company’s own flag.
By command of Her Majesty the Queen, Mr Remkes, The Queen’s Commissioner for the province of North-Holland (Noord-Holland) and Ms Faber, Mayor of Zaanstad, presented the official charter to Managing Director, Mirjam van Dijk.
Mr Remkes: “Today your company is known worldwide as an innovative, technical and service-oriented partner for optimizing production processes. It is actually a world market leader when it comes to cocoa-butter presses and cocoa and compound bulk grinding equipment. It gives me great pleasure to be able to say that Her Majesty is pleased to honour your request to bear the “Royal” warrant.
The Royal title is not awarded just like that – a company should have existed for at least 100 years, employ at least 100 people and, naturally, should be thoroughly sound, like Ms. Faber said. “We are proud of the fact that a company of international fame like Duyvis wiener is located here in the Zaan region”.
125 years ago a man had a vision of starting a workshop in the Zaan area. Pieter Mattheus Duyvis was a young mechanical engineer born and bred in the Zaan district. He specialized in machine building. He was brave enough to start a business with six employees on November 6, 1885. He considered Duyvis no more than a simple repair shop. And in fact that’s how it started. Over the years the company has grown to 200 employees, is market leader in the production of cocoa and chocolate machinery, has acquired Wiener in 2004 and only recently F.B. Lehmann was acquired. Mirjam van Dijk: “This is a unique day and the ultimate crown on the work of everybody here and for those who have supported us in the past. It is a day that would have brought a great smile on the face of a young engineer who 125 years ago decided to pursue his dreams and made it happen.”
As from this day, the new company name is Royal Duyvis Wiener B.V.
